PostHeaderIcon Do You Need New Carpeting?

Okay, so you think that its time to upgrade your carpets. Well, maybe it is. If your carpet is developing bald spots or if you purchased thick carpet and now you feel like you’re walking on hardwood flooring, then it’s definitely time to get new carpeting. But if you simply don’t like the look of your carpets anymore or you think that the spots you have will never come out, I would recommend calling a professional carpet cleaning company instead. This will save you a fortune on new carpets and it will probably turn that old dingy carpet into lovely carpeting once again.

PostHeaderIcon Quality Carpets

Carpets do need to be cared for and cleaned regularly, but they also need to be high quality carpets in order to hold up over time. While regular cleaning is a great idea, especially for those with a lot of household foot-traffic, purchasing cheap carpet will ruin any chance you have at keeping your carpets for year to come. Cheap carpets come apart easily, especially if you like to vacuum. But nice carpets quality carpet will last for years if properly taken care of. This means basic cleaning and vacuuming, as well as professional carpet cleaning at least once every two years.

PostHeaderIcon Spot Cleaner

To be fair, if you want your entire carpet clean, then you should rent a machine or call the professionals. But if you just have a small spot of two that you would like to eradicate, then a simple spot cleaner is a great idea. You can buy all sorts of spot treatments at your local hardware or grocery store, but I would recommend Scotchgard Pet OXY Spot & Stain Remover. It works great but is only supposed to be used on small areas. If you have pets, it’s an especially wonderful tool in your arsenal. It makes your carpets look like new and you don’t have to worry about your guests noticing any unwanted smells.

PostHeaderIcon Needy Carpets

Carpets are needy things. Just like a small child who relies on you for everything from feedings to lullabies at night, your carpets need constant care and attention. You have to be very careful to make sure they last the next 20-30 years. First of all, take your shoes off when you’re going to be walking on your carpet. That will help it last longer. Keep it clean by weekly vacuuming and yearly carpet cleaning. And get any and all spots out right away. If you don’t, they will set and you’ll have a spot there for the rest of your life.

PostHeaderIcon What Doesn’t Work

If you want clean carpets, it’s nice to know what works. However, many people have ideas about what will work, and many of those things don’t work at all. So let’s discuss what doesn’t work. Over-vacuuming doesn’t work, so don’t try it. It will only ruin your carpets. Purchasing spot cleaner at the store won’t work because you can’t use it for your whole carpet. And the store carpet cleaner rentals don’t always work because you never know how much cleaning solution to use and you usually can’t get all of the water back out of your carpets. This leads to mold problems. Your best option is usually a Glendora carpet cleaning company, but sometimes this can get expensive. If all else fails, however, it’s the best choice open to you.

PostHeaderIcon Cover-Ups

Let’s talk about cover-ups. No, I’m not talking about spy work here, nor am I going to list the 10 best make-up brands on the market. I’m talking about superficial carpet cleaning and the area rugs we use to disguise it. Now, most homes have carpeting, usually wall-to-wall. However, when those carpets start to look dingy and dirty, they simply vacuum more. When that doesn’t work, they cover up the carpeting with area rugs or large pieces of furniture. This is bad. The only real way to take care of dirty carpeting is to hiring a carpet cleaning company. Cover-ups don’t work, but a good solid cleaning will.

PostHeaderIcon Allergies

Sometimes, it’s not about getting your carpets cleaned. Sometimes, it’s about preventing seasonal allergies. During allergy season, many children and grown adults suffer, sneezing and coughing their way through their everyday activities. And sadly, most people don’t realize that their own carpets are against them. Carpet fibers trap allergens in place, preventing you from successfully keeping your home allergy free. This means that, without good carpet cleaning, you will be stuck sneezing and sniffling for many months after allergy season has passed. Don’t let that happen.

PostHeaderIcon 3 Things about Dirt

If you want your carpet really clean, you’ll have to understand a few things about dirt. First off, it can hide in your carpets. Dirt can sink down into your carpet fibers, meaning that regular vacuuming won’t cut it. Secondly, dirt isn’t just dust. It can contain harmful allergens and bacteria, which can hurt you and your family. And lastly, dirt can be removed easily by a Yorba Linda carpet cleaning company, since they have powerful cleaners that are safe for pets but deadly to germs. Not only that, but they also have specific equipment, equipment designed to lift dirt out of your carpets and keep your carpet fibers intact and bacteria free.

PostHeaderIcon Don’t Vacuum!

Did you know that your carpets react badly to over-vacuuming? Yeah, there’s something that no one really wants you to know. I mean, I’ve been told countless times that I should vacuum the house one a day, if possible. But my own research has revealed that vacuuming once a day can severely damage your carpet fibers, ruining their stability and causing irreparable harm. So what can you do? Well, keep vacuuming. Once a week isn’t so bad and it will keep your carpets cleaner than most. However, instead of just vacuuming more, hire carpet cleaners to cleanse your carpets at least once a year. That will definitely keep your carpets clean and won’t ruin your fibers.

PostHeaderIcon Green Cleaner

If you are going to clean your floors, then I recommend using natural cleaners. One of my favorites is Green Works. They have powerful cleaners that work hard to get floors clean without wrecking the environment.

The ingredients used in Green Works cleaners are biodegradable and never tested on animals. They don’t use any petrochemicals and have the conservation of our world in mind. And to top it all off, they clean really well!

There is a different Green Works cleaner for every room in your house and every cleaning job you can imagine. I use their multi-purpose cleaner that comes in the large bottle for my floors. It cuts through grease, grime, and dirt easily. Plus, it’s safe for my children and pets.

PostHeaderIcon Do It Yourself

Do it yourself guys are a dime a dozen, but it takes good sense to see that something needs doing. I can’t tell you the number of times that I’ve seen do-it-yourself guys lazing around while something needs done. That’s just part of life.

Of course, having the right resources is important too. For instance, my husband told me that we didn’t need to hire a carpet cleaning company for our carpets. Instead we should do the carpet cleaning ourselves. But after a few months, he hadn’t done a thing.

So, I found out some information. If your husband is like mine, then he shops at Home Depot. Guys love that store. Well did you know that Home Depot rents machines? More specifically, they rent carpet cleaning machines.

Once I found this out and told my husband, a carpet cleaning machine was in my house within a week. He even moved all of the furniture into the dining room and kitchen for me so I could do the floors… of course, I still had to do the floors. Why is it that do-it-yourself men end up making their wives do most everything for them?

Well, that's beside the point. If you want to clean your carpets yourself, then why not rent a machine from a place like Home Depot. It saves you the time and money hiring a professional would cost.

PostHeaderIcon Pet Stain Removal

If you have a new pet, then you will probably get a few stains here and there on your carpets. Even potty trained pets have accidents, drag in mud, or simply spill things on a regular basis. The idea is to be prepared.

If the stain is a potty stain, then you should work to get the smell out immediately. Even if you can’t smell anything, your pet will be able to find that spot easily and will continue to use that spot as a bathroom until the smell is gone.

Couch cushions and clothes can be easily washed in the washing machine, though I would recommend adding a box of baking soda along with your regular detergent. This will get the smell out and will clean the items well.

If you’re dealing with a carpet spot, then you need a cleaner specifically designed to get out pet odors. Many people use Resolve’s pet cleaner on these spots, and others rave about Out! Pet Odor Eliminator for their carpets. I personally use Out!, though I have a bottle of Resolve just in case.

If you need more tips, the Human Society has a whole section on their website dealing with pet stain removal. So check it out!

PostHeaderIcon It Won't Come Out

I know that carpet stains can seem impossible to get out, especially if you’ve tried all of the typical household remedies and they don’t work. If you’ve gone through vinegar, salt, dish soap, ammonia, water, lemon juice, and the like, chances are that you don’t want to even think about the stain anymore.

Unfortunately, you’ll have to. Unless you want to just cut out that piece of carpet like Mark Erickson recommends, you’ll need to get the stain out soon. And the sooner the better for many types of stains, right?

If household items aren’t working, you will need to pick up some basic stain remover from the store. Now don’t worry; stain removers aren’t all based on chemical warfare. There are many green cleaners and non-toxic sprays that you can try.

The most important thing is to get something you’re comfortable with, and make sure that your spray cleaner doesn’t contain bleach… unless you have white carpets. Try an environmentally friendly, pet friendly cleaner and you should be fine.

PostHeaderIcon Three Carpet Cleaning Tips

A good clean look and feel is something that every carpet cleaner strives for. However, only the best cleaners can truly make a carpet look like new. Here is a small list of carpet cleaning requirements that I have for my own home and that you can institute in yours:

1. Hire Chem-Dry if you can - I live in Southern California, and I truly believe that Orange County Chem Dry is the best clean you can get for your carpets. They don’t use too much water, so your carpets don’t run the risk of getting moldy. I love that.

2. Always ask about the cleaning products – Some carpet cleaning companies use harsh chemicals to get tough stains out of your carpets. But natural cleaners and “green” cleaners work just as well and won’t be toxic for your family and pets.

3. Catch stains early – The second you see a stain, it’s time to get it out. If you don’t try to get a stain out immediately, it often times won’t come out. The best option is to add a tiny amount of dish soap to some water and dab the stain. This way it won’t spread.

I know it’s a small list, but I believe that these three things can save your carpets from a lot of mess.

PostHeaderIcon Chemical Free Cleaning

I don’t know about you, but I want to make my world as safe for my children as possible. So when I clean my carpets, I never use heavy-duty cleaners. I avoid anything with harsh chemicals and try to clean naturally.

Vacuuming everyday in high-traffic areas will significantly help your carpets stay clean and not require cleaning agents. However, everyone spills something from time to time and mud happens. So, if the carpets do need a good scrubbing, I do them myself with water and vinegar.

If I do need something stronger, there are many “green” cleaners out there that you can use. They are non-toxic, pet friendly, and won’t hurt the environment to throw away. These cleaners should be more widely used, yet most people simply don’t seem to care about what their spray cleaners are doing to the environment.

Chemical free carpet cleaning is important to the environment and our health. Breathing in chemicals cannot possible be good for us, can it? Chemical free cleaning is just one way that I prevent my children from inheriting a world that is falling apart.

PostHeaderIcon Food Stains

Vinegar is probably the best carpet cleaning agent in the world for food stains. I don’t know why people spend so much money for spray cleaners when vinegar will do the job just fine without extra costs. And if vinegar doesn’t work, rubbing alcohol almost always does.

Vinegar and rubbing alcohol are common household items, so they don’t cost extra. Of course, there is a downside. Both of these products require a bit of elbow grease, and they need to be reapplied multiple times.

So if you don’t have a lot of time, try water, dish soap, and ammonia. Some water in a bowl with a dash of dish soap and a bit of ammonia will go a LONG way. And unlike the dabbing action used to remove stains with spray cleaners, you can scrub away with this stuff as hard as you want. Just a little bit will get that stain out, and I recommend rinsing the area with a bit of water and drying it with a towel afterwards.

PostHeaderIcon Removing Coffee Stains from Carpet

Coffee stains are almost impossible to get out if you don’t get to them right away. In my house, I don’t realize I’ve spilled anything until a few months later when the stains are already set.

But I found this new cleaner that works really well. It’s called Winning Colours Stain Remover. I first tried it because a friend of mine saw a youtube video about getting coffee stains out of carpet. She showed the video to me, and this is the product they used.

Here’s what I did. I added the stain remover to my carpet and rubbed it in with my fingers. I didn’t have to wear gloves because this stuff is non-toxic and actually smells good too. Anyway, I rubbed it in for half a minute, and then used a spray bottle to get the area a little damp. Using the water to create some suds, I used my fingers yet again to rub the stain for another minute. Then, much to my astonishment, the stain was gone.

After drying the area with a clean towel, I couldn’t even tell that the coffee stain had been there. I then went all over my house, getting rid of the stains on my carpet.

PostHeaderIcon Carpet Cleaning Options

Installing carpeting or adding area rugs to your house can be one of the things that may right away make an enormous impact, apropos making a sense of warmth, comfort and hospitality in your house.

Living in Southern California and need the services of an Orange County carpet cleaning professional? Chem-dry provides non-toxic carpet cleaner services with no-wait dry times of less than 2 hours.

Rugs and carpets can tie together a design theme and create an excellent ambiance. They can also provide welcomed relief to tired feet after a tedious day. By using the services of a carpet cleaning company, you can ensure your carpets stay in great shape for years to come. A carpet cleaning service can come in especially handy when there were some mishaps and you find yourself having a look at stains on your new carpets, pretty Oriental rugs, or dear Persian carpets. If you have attempted everything you know to get an awkward stain out, then it's time to call in the services of pro carpet cleaners. Any carpet cleaning company has all the appliances and the numerous cleaning chemicals that'll be required for any carpet cleaning task you need to have done.

But more crucial than the carpet cleaning hardware they have or the choice of cleaning solutions that they can use is the years of expertise that these professionals have and can exploit in looking after your floor coverings. There are a lot of alternative ways of cleaning carpets professionally, yet not all carpet cleaning firms are set up to provide all the assorted services.

Some of the companies will focus on only 1 approach, while other carpet cleaning service firms will be ready to do nearly anything you can think of regarding getting rugs and carpets looking their best again. While there are several carpet cleaning services that offer shampooing, you may also hire a machine, buy the carpet shampoo and do the job yourself. Shampooing is the most simple and most common approach and is ideal for many situations.

There are examples of a shampooing product causing damage to the carpeting, so you want to be certain that you read the instructions carefully and you know precisely what sort of material your rugs and carpets are made from. Also, occasionally, truly evil stains will appear to have been removed by the carpet cleaning, but then will reappear 1 or 2 days later. If you're undecided of the kind of carpet you have or if you have uncooperative stains, then it'll possibly be a better to hire a pro service for carpet cleaning. Dry carpet cleaning is a strategy that's changing into a popular alternative option to carpet shampooing.

For heavily dirtied carpets, steam carpet cleaning is the preferred system as it can achieve deeper cleaning than the other strategies. With this approach, the carpet cleaning apparatus produces steam which is mixed with a detergent that deeply penetrates the fibers of the rugs and carpeting. Once the cleaning solution has been steamed into the floor covering, the machine then uses suction to remove the detergent as well as all the dust and dirt that it loosened. While selecting the best method of cleaning carpets is crucial, it is even more critical the carpet cleaning company that you hire has the correct experience to do the job well and they have a great reputation. They deserve to be able to give you a list of satisfied patrons, as well as evidence that they're bonded, approved and insured for the work they're going to be doing in your house.
